  3. 1952, during a bout at Yankee Stadium, in
  4. New York City. It was a hot summer night,
  5. and Sugar Ray was fighting champion
  6. Joey Maxim for the light-heavyweight (175
  7. pounds) title.

  9. It was a heroic fight. By the 13th round,
  10. Sugar Ray was far ahead on the judging
  11. cards against his much larger opponent.
  12. All he had to do was make it through the
  13. 15th round and he would be awarded the
  14. decision. It didnΓÇÖt happen.

  16. In the extreme heat of the muggy summer
  17. night, Sugar Ray collapsed after the 13th
  18. round. Joey Maxim was credited with a
  19. knockout victory.
